Sony Ericsson has now a new Software Update for all the Xperia X10 Family Phones which is avilable Over the Air. This is a minor update and will fix bugs and improve overall stability of the Device. ( Still trying to figure out the differences between the earlier update and newer update. )
There is no Update from Sony Ericsson on their Product Launch blog yet but the update is hitting servers all over the world. The Update is mentioned in the Sony Ericsson Official Update sitethough. There are no Changelog mentioned in the Update Site either but it says it’s an OTA Update for all android users who are on Android 2.1 and for users who are still on Android 1.6 will have to connect their phone to Computer and update it using PC Companion or SEUS.
If you haven’t got the notification yet on your phone, you can use PC Companion or SEUS to download the firmware and install it on your Xperia X10.

How to Install Latest Firmware Using PC Companion on Xperia X10 Family
You’ll Need :

- Latest PC Companion : Download
- Xperia X10 Family Phone ( with not so latest firmware )
Steps to Install Latest Firmware :

- Install latest PC Companion on your Computer and connect your Xperia X10 using USB Cable.
- Mount your SD Card by dragging down the Notification bar and selecting to mount your phone. It will connect your phone to PC Companion.
- You will now see a notification in your PC Companion that a new firmware is available for your phone. If you don’t see the notification, then perhaps your phone has the latest firmware or the latest update is not yet available for your region. Ask me in the comments section about it.
- Click on Update button and you’ll be presented with 4 step update process window as shown in the window below. This particular update doesn’t wipe any data on your phone but this won’t be the case with all the updates. So you should check this screen for more details about the update and proceed further.
- Clicking on the “next” brings you to the second step where it initializes the update components required for updating the firmware on your phone. Be patient while it completes.
- After the initialization is complete, click next to download the Latest Firmware for your Xperia X10 Phone. It will download the latest firmware for your phone and will use your computers internet connection. Do not disconnect your phone while the software is being downloaded, else it will cancel downloading. But if you do so for any important purpose, don’t be afraid it won’t brick your phone, you’ll just need to start from step one again.
- But once it has downloaded the Firmware, it will ask you to restart your phone in Flashing mode by Pressing the Back Button and Connecting the USB cable which is already connected to your computer.
- After you connect your phone to the computer in Flashing mode click next and wait until it flashes your phone to the Latest Firmware. Please DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE at this stage. Disconnecting your phone at this updating stage might brick your phone.
- After the update is complete you will get a success message on your screen. Restart your phone and enjoy the latest Firmware for your Xperia X10 family phone.

Reported Changes as of yet ( still discovering and will let you know the complete changelog once i find new things ):
- Timescape & particularly Mediascape is faster when you open it and also when you are into it.
- Unlock Animation is more fluid and more responsive.
- The keyboard is now white & grey and is more like HTC keyboard.
- In-Call Volume has been Increased and is now Loud & Clear.
- Nothing about MT yet ( doesn’t work in Google Maps! )
- Quadrant score is around 500
- Feels faster overall, every app is opens and closes faster
- Can not be Rooted( as of now! ) with any of the know methods. 
As you can see, there are nothing as of a major or visible update in this Firmware update, and the last change-log might disappoint you as well. So if root your phone and install some of the rooted apps that you can’t live without, then i would recommend you to wait a while until the root method is determined for this firmware. And if you don’t care about rooting your phone then update now, the update will make you Xperia X10 family phone feel a lot faster, better & stable.
